The story about Samuel's name
In the beginning of my wifes pregnancy, she already had some names in mind that she liked. But I wasn't really comfortable with any of them. So I thought about some names, but did not come to any conclusions.
This remained like that until we and our cell group met to celebrate New Year's Eve. At some point a story about a woman who desperately wanted a baby was read. This woman prayed to God to become pregnant. Then she really became pregnant and named her child Samuel, because the meaning of this name is: God hears.
When this passage was read I had the inner certainty that our child should also have this name. We already have tried to get a baby for some time without success. So we kept on praying to God for a baby and finally my wife got pregnant:-). That is why the meaning of the name Samuel perfectly matched our situation. And we are so thankful to God for this great gift that He has given to us. And my wife was perfectly fine with this name as well;-).
After we were sure about the name we did not want to tell others which one it was. But one funny situation happened. My brother also discussed with my parents what name he would want our child to have. And guess what, it was Samuel. So when he asked us what name our baby should have and we didn't want to tell him, he told us what name he would choose. This was something like a second sign for us that Samuel is the right name for our child.
